Tonight Is Invitation Only. Friday Is Not.
This is the single thing worth knowing, because it is the part people get wrong and then assume they have missed a show they have not missed. An invitation covers one evening. The exhibition itself runs on afterwards and is open to anyone who walks in.
The reasoning is capacity rather than exclusivity, and we wrote about why that is nearly universal in how a gallery show actually comes together. The short version: a room has a limit, and on opening night the artist needs to be able to speak to people and the work needs to be visible over shoulders.
What Echoes of Haworth Is
A solo presentation of new work, curated rather than simply assembled — which, as we set out yesterday, means somebody decided what stayed out as much as what went in.
JoCa's practice works in a non finito register: figures deliberately left unresolved, abstract texture and figurative realism running in the same picture rather than in separate ones. It is work that rewards standing still, because the unresolved passages are doing the arguing and they are easy to walk past.

The show is in Roma Norte, within walking distance of most of the neighbourhood's galleries — which makes it an easy addition to an afternoon rather than a special trip.

The Best Day to Actually See It Is Not Tonight
Even with an invitation, opening night is the worst night for looking. The paintings will be identical on a quiet Tuesday, and you will be able to stand in front of one for as long as it takes without negotiating around anybody.
Go on a weekday afternoon once the opening week has passed. You are also far more likely to get a real conversation about a specific work, rather than a room being managed around you.
