Art of NOMA has opened Neon Reveries, an online-exclusive exhibition of ten previously unseen paintings by JoCa, on view on Artsy through 30 August 2026. It is the artist’s first dedicated exhibition on the platform.
The show runs alongside JoCa’s first institutional solo exhibition, Non Finito, at the Museo de la Ciudad de Mérida — and the two close on the same day, 30 August. Curated by Rafael Pérez y Pérez, Non Finito brings together thirty paintings and has been covered by Diario de Yucatán and Milenio. For five weeks, the museum survey and the new work can be seen against each other. After 30 August, neither can.
Neon Reveries marks a distinct shift in palette. JoCa is known for figurative portraits that fracture on purpose — faces dissolving into glitch, smear and interruption to describe how identity comes apart under social media and machine vision. In these ten works, that fracture arrives in colour: neon coral, electric pink and cyan cut across structured garments and turned profiles in long motion blurs, pulling classical oil portraiture toward something closer to a screen than a mirror.
The ten paintings are the opening sequence of a larger body of work JoCa will complete through 2027. They are being shown together for the first and only time.

JoCa’s next physical exhibition, Echoes of Haworth, opens in September 2026 at Casa Milán in Mexico City, followed by a presentation during Miami Art Week in December 2026, venue to be announced.
Neon Reveries comprises ten original oil paintings, each unique and signed by the artist. Prices on request. The gallery ships worldwide from Mexico City and arranges framing and delivery.
About JoCa
JoCa is a multidisciplinary artist of Mexican and Spanish origin, trained in Vancouver, Canada. Working primarily in oil, JoCa builds portraits that deliberately refuse to resolve — an approach the artist has described as both formal and therapeutic, addressing anxiety, constructed identity and mental health in an era of permanent self-presentation. The work draws on classical Dutch portraiture and breaks it with contemporary visual noise. Art of NOMA inauguró Neon Reveries, una exposición exclusiva en línea con diez pinturas inéditas de JoCa, disponible en Artsy hasta el 30 de agosto de 2026. Es la primera exposición dedicada a JoCa en la plataforma.
La muestra corre en paralelo a Non Finito, la primera exposición individual institucional de JoCa, en el Museo de la Ciudad de Mérida — y ambas cierran el mismo día, el 30 de agosto. Con curaduría de Rafael Pérez y Pérez, Non Finito reúne treinta pinturas y ha sido reseñada por Diario de Yucatán y Milenio. Durante cinco semanas, el conjunto del museo y la obra nueva pueden verse uno frente al otro. Después del 30 de agosto, ninguno de los dos.
Neon Reveries marca un giro claro en la paleta. JoCa es conocida por retratos figurativos que se fracturan a propósito: rostros que se disuelven en glitch, barrido e interrupción para hablar de cómo la identidad se descompone bajo las redes sociales y la mirada de las máquinas. En estas diez obras esa fractura llega en color — coral neón, rosa eléctrico y cian atraviesan prendas estructuradas y perfiles de tres cuartos en largos barridos de movimiento, acercando el retrato clásico al óleo a algo más parecido a una pantalla que a un espejo.
Las diez pinturas son la secuencia inicial de un cuerpo de obra mayor que JoCa completará a lo largo de 2027. Se exhiben juntas por primera y única vez.

Sobre JoCa
JoCa es artista multidisciplinaria de origen mexicano y español, con formación en Vancouver, Canadá. Trabaja principalmente al óleo y construye retratos que se niegan deliberadamente a resolverse, un procedimiento que ha descrito como formal y a la vez terapéutico, y que aborda la ansiedad, la identidad construida y la salud mental en una época de autopresentación permanente. Su obra parte del retrato clásico holandés y lo rompe con ruido visual contemporáneo. Non Finito, su primera exposición individual institucional, se inauguró en el Museo de la Ciudad de Mérida en mayo de 2026. Art of NOMA representa a JoCa.
