Miami Art Week 2026 runs from 1 to 6 December, and the single most useful thing to know about it is the order in which the fairs open. NADA Miami opens Tuesday 1 December. Untitled Art holds its VIP and press preview the same day and opens to the public Wednesday the 2nd. Art Basel Miami Beach does not open to the public until Friday 4 December.
Book your flight around Art Basel's public opening and you will land on the 4th, with NADA closing the following day and Untitled three days into its run. Those are the two fairs where emerging work actually is. Arrive Tuesday the 1st.
The week, day by day
Every fair publishes its own dates and almost nobody lays them side by side. Here is the whole week in one place, taken from each fair's own listings.

Why the order of opening matters so much
At every art fair, the best work at a given price point sells in the first forty-eight hours. That is not a rumour; it is the mechanical consequence of preview access being sold to the people most likely to buy. By the final weekend, what remains at the emerging end is largely what did not move.
Now combine that with the calendar above. NADA — the fair most oriented towards young galleries and genuinely affordable work — runs Tuesday to Saturday. Its own first forty-eight hours are Tuesday and Wednesday. If you arrive Friday for Art Basel's public opening, you are reaching NADA on its fourth day, one day before it closes.
The consequence is that the standard visitor plan produces the opposite of the intended result. People book around the biggest name, arrive for it, and then discover the fairs they could actually have bought from are either closing or picked over. Arriving on the 1st costs the same flight and gives you both.
Which fair should a new collector actually attend?
If you are buying rather than sightseeing, and your budget is in the hundreds or low thousands rather than the hundreds of thousands: NADA first, Untitled second, Art Basel last. That is the reverse of most people's instinct and it follows directly from what is on the walls.
Art Basel Miami Beach is a superb thing to see and a poor place to start buying. It is the top of the international market, and the price of a single work in the main sector routinely exceeds what most people spend on art in a lifetime. Go, absolutely — but go to look, and go knowing that is what you are doing.
NADA is run by the New Art Dealers Alliance, a non-profit whose entire purpose is supporting new and emerging galleries. The work there is by younger artists, shown by younger galleries, at prices that reflect both. Untitled sits between the two: curated, international, beachfront, with sections specifically devoted to solo presentations and to galleries operating outside the usual centres.
What NADA and Untitled do differently
NADA's structure is the interesting part. Because it is a non-profit membership organisation rather than a commercial fair operator, its selection is oriented towards galleries that are early in their own lives — which is exactly where you find artists early in theirs. A significant share of exhibitors at any edition are showing at the fair for the first time.
Untitled runs curated sectors led by invited guest curators rather than leaving the whole floor to the market. For its 2026 Miami Beach edition the Artist Spotlight sector — focused solo presentations — is selected by Agustina Ferreyra, director of OMR and creative director of BODEGA, both in Mexico City. That is worth flagging for anyone reading this from Mexico: a Mexico City gallerist is shaping a significant part of a major American fair, which tells you something real about where curatorial authority is moving.
Both fairs are also, simply, more pleasant. Smaller halls, shorter aisles, gallerists who have time to talk. If you want to ask basic questions without feeling like an obstacle, these are the rooms to ask them in.
Surviving six days of fairs
Nobody sees Miami Art Week properly by trying to see all of it. A few things that hold up:
- One fair per day, maximum. Two is possible and always means both were seen badly.
- The fairs are not near each other. Ice Palace Studios is in the city, Untitled is on the sand, the Convention Center is a different island. Budget real transit time; the traffic that week is genuinely bad.
- Walk each floor once without stopping, then return to the booths that held you. This is the single most effective fair habit there is.
- Ask prices out loud. At NADA and Untitled especially, this is completely ordinary and nobody minds.
- Leave the last day unbooked. The gallery and museum shows across Miami during that week are free, quieter and often better than the fairs.
Buying emerging work after Miami
Most people leave Miami Art Week with a list rather than a crate, and that is the right outcome for a first visit. The names you write down at NADA are the ones worth following for the next year.
