Race belongs to the series in which Alyssa Tang works the human figure as a study in material and pressure. The Hong Kong–based artist, architect, and designer turns momentum itself into subject — not a literal race but the sensation of speed and internal drive, the body caught between control and volatility.

Built in oil and charcoal on canvas, it pairs saturated tonal passages with sharp, instinctive line. The elongated 84 × 175 cm horizontal format sets the direction: the eye moves laterally across the surface, following the rhythm rather than a scene. Soft transitions and abrupt marks keep the motion both driven and unsettled.
