“Non-Migratory Birds” is a series of works about migration and the inner search for home.

This piece is dedicated to a person who finds themselves in a foreign country, within a new system, language, and society that may feel cold, wild, and unwelcoming. The dry branch growing behind the girl’s head symbolizes this alien environment — a rigid structure to which one must adapt.

The bird holding a twig in its beak becomes a symbol of the attempt to build a nest again: to create a personal space made of one’s own thoughts, close people, beloved work, and things that bring a sense of home.

In this composition, I aimed to convey a feeling of pressure and heaviness created by an environment people enter not by choice. The heroine seems to have no support — she is lying in a dissolving space where any sense of stability and belonging disappears. All that remains is the person themselves, their thoughts, and the effort to find inner grounding in order to rebuild their home.
