Echoes of Haworth, a solo exhibition of new paintings by JoCa, opened on Thursday 17 September 2026 at Galera 32 in Narvarte Poniente, Mexico City. The room was full, and every available work found a collector in under two hours. The series sold out on opening night.

What the series is about
The title points to Haworth, the Yorkshire village where Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë lived and wrote. The sisters first published as Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell, in a literary world where being known as women could keep their voices from being heard.
The paintings don't illustrate Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre or Agnes Grey. JoCa translates their emotional landscapes into a contemporary visual language. Faces fracture and dissolve into layered gestures and what JoCa calls visual glitches, built by hand in oil. Gilded frames recall the nineteenth-century world of the Brontës around images that refuse to be contained.
The year that led here
Earlier in 2026, JoCa presented Non Finito, a first institutional solo exhibition, at the Museo de la Ciudad de Mérida (May to August 2026), covered by Milenio and Diario de Yucatán. Rafael Pérez y Pérez curated both shows.
