Molly van Amerongen

Molly van Amerongen (London, 1991) is an Irish painter living and working in London. Having grown up in rural Ireland, she is drawn to how place reveals itself - through colour and texture, through what is seen, felt, and carried. Her work explores how the body holds experience, how memory and sensation take shape through material. It is, in this sense, autobiographical - a rite of passage, a way of tracing the relationship between memory and imagination, the mark of something fleeting, the past glimpsed from a possible future.

Artist Statement

"Each painting begins as a fragment, a glimpse or recollection that unfolds through rhythm, pause, and the slow materiality of pigment and touch. The paintings move between control and release, between remembering and transformation. For me, painting is not a record but a renewal - a way of letting experience live on through colour, texture, and light."

“Colours are the deeds and sufferings of light.” — Goethe
