“Open Sky” is my first painting in a series about migration titled “Non-Migratory Birds.” This is a deeply personal and sensitive subject for me, as I am living in forced migration due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Migration is never easy, but forced migration is an especially difficult and profound experience. Through this series, I wanted to transfer my own emotions and experiences onto canvas, reflecting the different stages of coming to terms with a new reality.
The painting “Open Sky” is dedicated to the first months of the war, when people were asking and hoping that allied countries would close the sky over Ukraine. People took to the streets carrying signs and banners, appealing to the world with this request. Many believed in support and hoped for protection.
This work symbolizes the stage in my personal journey when I came to the realization that the sky would remain open.

«Відкрите небо» — моя перша картина із серії, присвяченої темі міграції, під назвою «Не перелітні пташки ». Це дуже особиста й болюча для мене тема, адже я перебуваю у вимушеній міграції через вторгнення Росії в Україну.
Міграція сама по собі ніколи не буває легкою, але вимушена міграція — це особливо складний і глибокий досвід. Через цю серію картин мені захотілося перенести власні переживання на полотно, відобразивши різні етапи прийняття нової реальності.
Картина «Відкрите небо» присвячена першим місяцям війни, коли люди з надією просили й чекали, що дружні держави закриють небо над Україною. Люди виходили на вулиці з гаслами та плакатами, звертаючись до світу з цим проханням. Багато хто вірив у підтримку та сподівався на захист.
Ця робота уособлює той етап мого внутрішнього шляху, коли прийшло усвідомлення того, що небо залишиться відкритим.
