Details
Printemps et fleurs 3 belongs to one of Pénélope Barbier's seasonal cycles, where she paints the natural world as a state of feeling rather than a scene. Made in 2025, the work carries the series' theme of renewal and growth — spring registered as momentum and abundance instead of literal flowers. It reads, like much of her practice, as a meditation on transition and what lingers.
Executed in oil and natural pigments on canvas, the surface is densely layered, its tonal shifts warmed by the organic character of the pigments. Color and form interact at low intensity, holding a complexity that only close viewing brings out. At 100 × 85 cm the composition anchors a wall while keeping a sense of lightness and flow.
