Juárez and the Young Galleries: A Walk for Collectors

Colonia Juárez, just north of Roma and east of Chapultepec, holds a compact group of contemporary galleries that you can see in an afternoon on foot. Art of NOMA’s venue directory lists five galleries and an art library here, plus the building that hosts the Salón ACME fair, and three of the galleries are open together from Tuesday to Thursday between 11:00 and 14:00. Every address, hour and show date below was checked on 23 October 2026.

Key takeaways

  • Our directory lists five galleries in Colonia Juárez: Galería Karen Huber, Pequod Co., Ago Projects, LLANO and Lodos, plus the art library Aeromoto.
  • Galería Karen Huber (Bucareli 120, first floor) opened in 2014 and centres its programme on contemporary painting, according to its own site.
  • Pequod Co. (Lancaster 29) was founded in 2020; its current show, by Fátima Rodrigo, runs to 25 October 2026.
  • Ago Projects and LLANO share one address, Paseo de la Reforma 382, and Ago Projects works between art and design.
  • Karen Huber, Pequod Co. and Lodos are all open from Tuesday to Thursday, 11:00 to 14:00; none of the galleries in this guide lists Sunday or Monday hours.

Why walk Colonia Juárez for contemporary art?

Juárez is a district of short streets between Paseo de la Reforma and Avenida Chapultepec, and its galleries sit close together. Art of NOMA’s venue directory places five commercial galleries here, along with a non-profit art library and two venues that matter during the February fairs. That density makes it a good half-day for anyone who already knows Roma or San Miguel Chapultepec and wants a third route. Our overview of art galleries in Mexico City explains how the districts fit together, and the guide to the art neighbourhoods of Mexico City puts Juárez beside the others.

The galleries here lean recent. Galería Karen Huber dates from 2014 and Pequod Co. from 2020, according to their own sites, which makes the district a useful place to see artists who are still building their careers. If that is what you are after, our guide to emerging art galleries in Mexico City widens the search across the city.

This guide is a list by address, not a ranking, and we have not timed the walk between doors. For two routes of the same kind, see the gallery walk through Roma Norte and Roma Sur and the walking guide to San Miguel Chapultepec.

Karen Huber on Bucareli and Pequod Co. on Lancaster

Galería Karen Huber is on the first floor of Bucareli 120, on the eastern edge of the district. Its contact page gives that address and lists hours from Tuesday to Saturday. The gallery’s own about page says it was established in 2014 and has focused on contemporary painting, in both its conceptual and formal sides, with Mexican and international painters. It also runs a series of talks about painting, which it publishes on its YouTube channel.

When we checked, the gallery listed two shows on view from 3 September to 24 October 2026: Andrew Holmquist’s Aguacero and Cecilia Granara’s ¡Vé a pintar!. Both close on Saturday, so if you read this later, look at the gallery’s exhibitions page for what follows.

Pequod Co. is at Lancaster 29, on the western side of Juárez near Reforma. Its about page describes a contemporary art gallery based in Mexico City, founded in 2020, that produces exhibitions in its own space, works with institutions and takes part in local and international fairs. Its home page lists Fátima Rodrigo’s show ¿Cuántas versiones más de mí tienen que morir?, with curatorial accompaniment by Fabiola Iza, from 30 August to 25 October 2026 at Lancaster 29. The same week the gallery is at Paris Internationale, so expect a smaller team at the door.

Paseo de la Reforma 382: two galleries, one building

Two galleries in our directory share a single address on Paseo de la Reforma, a short walk from Pequod Co. Ago Projects is in office 501 at number 382. Its own about page describes a design-driven practice and designer representation space started by Rudy F. Weissenberg and Rodman Primack, based in Mexico City and New York. So the work you see here sits between art and design. The site lists two current Mexico City projects: El Zaguán, by the mother-and-daughter duo Maremoto (Maxine Álvarez and Natalia Ramos), from 3 October to 29 November 2026, and Junta de Verano by Pedro y Juana, from 15 August to 15 December 2026.

LLANO is listed in our directory at the same number, Paseo de la Reforma 382. Our directory describes it as a Mexican platform for artists whose work grows out of long-term research. Its website did not let us read it automatically on the day we checked, so the address and description here come from our directory only. Confirm the floor and visiting arrangements with the gallery before you go.

Neither gallery publishes opening hours on the pages we could read. Ago Projects lists a phone number on its site, and both have Instagram accounts linked from our venue pages, which is the simplest way to ask whether they are open on the day you plan to visit.

Lodos, Aeromoto and the rest of the neighbourhood

Lodos keeps one of its two Mexico City spaces at Turín 38 B in Juárez; the other is in San Miguel Chapultepec. Our directory describes it as a contemporary art gallery founded by Francisco Cordero-Oceguera and lists hours from Tuesday to Saturday, with a break in the middle of the day. Like LLANO, its website would not load for us automatically, so the hours in the table come from our directory, not from the gallery.

Aeromoto, at Venecia 23, is not a commercial gallery. Our directory describes it as a non-profit contemporary art library and community space open to the public. It is a quieter stop between galleries. We have not linked a website for it here: the domain we found under its name no longer shows the library, so find it through its social accounts instead.

Two more Juárez addresses matter mainly in February. Proyectos Públicos, at General Prim 30-32, is the venue the Salón ACME fair names for its 2027 edition. Expo Reforma, at Avenida Morelos 67, hosted Feria Material until its 2025 edition, according to our directory; the fair’s own site places its 2026 edition at Maravilla Studios.

When are the Juárez galleries open together?

The table gives each address and the hours as published, from the gallery’s own site where it states them and otherwise from our venue directory.

Venue Address Listed hours
Galería Karen Huber Bucareli 120, first floor Tue–Fri 11:00–15:00 and 16:00–19:00; Sat 11:00–15:00
Pequod Co. Lancaster 29 Tue–Thu 11:00–17:00
Lodos Turín 38 B Tue–Thu 11:00–14:00 and 15:00–18:00; Fri 11:00–15:00; Sat 12:00–15:00
Ago Projects Paseo de la Reforma 382, office 501 Not listed
LLANO Paseo de la Reforma 382 Not listed
Aeromoto (art library) Venecia 23 Not listed

Reading across the rows gives one window. From Tuesday to Thursday, between 11:00 and 14:00, Karen Huber, Pequod Co. and Lodos are all open. On Friday, Pequod Co. lists no hours, so only Karen Huber and Lodos overlap, from 11:00 to 15:00. On Saturday the overlap is 12:00 to 15:00 for the same two. Nobody in the table lists Sunday or Monday hours.

Hours change, and galleries close between shows to install the next one. Several of the current shows end on 24 and 25 October, so expect some closures the following week. Treat the table as a starting point and check each gallery’s own site or Instagram before you set out. If you are new to gallery visits, our guide on how to visit a gallery show without feeling out of place covers what to ask at the front desk.

How does Juárez fit into Art Week?

Juárez becomes busier in February, during Mexico City Art Week. The Salón ACME visit page lists its next edition, Salón ACME No. 14, from 4 to 8 February 2027 at Proyectos Públicos, General Prim 30-32, in Colonia Juárez. That puts one of the week’s fairs inside this route. The Mexico City Art Week 2027 guide covers the other fairs and dates.

Outside February, a workable order starts at Karen Huber on Bucareli, crosses the district to Lodos on Turín, and finishes at Pequod Co. on Lancaster and the two galleries at Reforma 382, which are close to one another. Do the three galleries with published hours between 11:00 and 14:00 on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, and add Ago Projects and LLANO once you have confirmed they are open.

If you want a point of comparison for what original work costs, every work on Art of NOMA carries its price on the page, and the lowest price on the live catalogue today is MX$ 2,334, shown for a limited-edition print. You can browse everything on the works page. El Espejo de Obsidiana by Su Lin Casanova is an oil painting on fabric from 2026, 120 centimetres tall, and The Long Soak by Niamh Barry is a square oil and acrylic painting on canvas, also from 2026. Both are available now. Between visits, the guide to discovering emerging art in Mexico City suggests where to look next.

Verified 23 October 2026 against the galleries’ own websites (Karen Huber, Pequod Co. and Ago Projects: addresses, hours where published, founding dates and current shows), the Salón ACME visit page and Art of NOMA’s venue directory (LLANO, Lodos and Aeromoto, and the remaining hours).
