About this work

Johanna El Zelah models feeling into clay. Her hand-built ceramics turn masks, flowers, and the female figure into small, charged objects with titles that read like confessions. Positivamente Tóxica #4 belongs to a series that turns the language of relentless positivity against itself, where affirmations curdle into something sharper — pop wit on the surface, something more tender underneath.

Built in low-temperature ceramic and finished with engobes and enamels, the piece is modeled entirely by hand, so its surface and gesture are the artist's own. The glazing shifts between matte and sheen as it catches the light, and the compact, held scale trades size for wit — an object meant to be picked up and turned over.

Low-temperature ceramic, engobes and enamels; hand-modeled · 2026 · 20 × 16 × 10 cm (7.9 × 6.3 × 3.9 in) · 560 g · Unique work · Certificate of authenticity included.
