Lima: Pinta Lima and Peru’s Emerging Artists

Pinta Lima, the contemporary art fair in Lima, Peru, has set its 14th edition for 22 to 25 April 2027 at Casa Prado in Miraflores, according to the fair’s own site. For emerging art, the places to look are its NEXT section for young galleries, its curated RADAR section and a special project that in 2026 gave its space to young Peruvian artists. Every date, name and number below was read on pinta.art on 28 October 2026.

Key takeaways

  • Pinta Lima 2027, the 14th edition, is announced for 22 to 25 April 2027 at Casa Prado, Av. 28 de Julio 878, Miraflores, Lima.
  • Pinta calls it Peru’s only contemporary art fair and says it is in its seventh consecutive year at Casa Prado, an 18th-century building.
  • The 2026 gallery list names 34 galleries in the Main Section, 6 in NEXT and 5 in RADAR; by our count 12 of them are based in Lima.

When is Pinta Lima 2027, and where is it held?

Pinta’s pages for Lima give the dates of the next edition as 22 to 25 April 2027, and the gallery application page repeats them: the 14th edition, 22 to 25 April 2027, at Casa Prado in Miraflores. One information box on the fair’s home page reads 22 to 27 April 2027 instead. We use the 22 to 25 April dates that the fair states on its application and section pages, and our own Pinta Lima 2027 listing notes the same difference. Check the fair’s site again before you book travel.

What kind of fair is Pinta Lima?

On its “About Pinta Lima” page, the organiser calls Pinta Lima Peru’s only contemporary art fair and, elsewhere on the same page, the largest contemporary art fair in Peru. It says the fair presents the diversity of the Latin American art scene and works as a meeting point where artists, galleries, curators and collectors from the region connect with the international art world.

Pinta Lima belongs to Pinta, which the page describes as a platform for Latin American art that runs three international fairs, the magazine Arte al Día and programmes such as Pinta Panamá Art Week. The fair’s structure has three gallery sections. The Main Section is a curated selection of galleries chosen, in the fair’s words, for the quality and innovation of their proposals. NEXT and RADAR are the two curated sections, covered below.

The 2026 list of participating galleries shows how international the fair is. By our count it names 34 galleries in the Main Section, from Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Bogotá, Madrid, Miami, New York, London and other cities, plus 6 in NEXT and 5 in RADAR. Twelve of those 45 galleries list Lima as their city. The fair’s own summary on its home page says more than 40 galleries.

Where does emerging art show at the fair?

The NEXT section is the clearest answer. Pinta says NEXT continues to focus on young galleries and emerging artists, and that it moves away from the rhetoric of “discovery” to read “emerging” critically, looking at how the galleries work as well as at their artists. Its curator is Juan Canela, whose biography on the page lists him as chief curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama and as artistic director of ZsONAMACO in Mexico City from 2020 to 2023.

The NEXT page lists six galleries: Mahara+Co (Miami), Salón Comunal (Bogotá), Matia Borgonovo (El Salvador), CASAGALERIA (Salta, Argentina), BLOC Art (Lima) and La Galería de Punto Rojo (Quito). These are the same six named in the 2026 gallery list. If you want a working definition to set beside the fair’s, our guide to what emerging art is explains how we use the term.

RADAR is the second place to look. Under curator Ilaria Conti, its current theme, Porous Systems, gathers process-driven work that, in the fair’s words, absorbs and transforms its surroundings. The RADAR page lists COTT (Buenos Aires), Crisis (Lima), La Galería Rebelde (Guatemala), mueve (galería) (Lima) and Remota (Salta).

Which young Peruvian artists did the fair spotlight?

For its 2026 edition, the fair turned a space usually given to tributes and established artists into a special project for emerging talent, curated by Florencia Portocarrero and Irene Gelfman. Its title is “The image of another world takes shape in a vibrant form” (in Spanish, “La imagen de otro mundo se forma vibrante”). The project page says every artist in it was born between the late 1980s and the late 1990s and was a young representative of a gallery taking part in Pinta Lima 2026.

The artists listed are Verovcha, Yone Makino, Elizabeth Vásquez Arbulú, Pierina Másquez and Fátima Rodrigo. According to the fair’s biographies, Verovcha (Lima, 1994) lives in Cusco and works with painting, textiles and embroidery, in dialogue with a textile project made with traditional weavers. Yone Makino (Lima, 1997) studied painting at the National School of Fine Arts (ENSABAP) and is represented by Vesper Tzu. Elizabeth Vásquez Arbulú (Lima, 1990) works across video, ceramics, sculpture and site-specific installation.

Pierina Másquez (Chiclayo, 1993) works with textiles, ceramics, drawing and expanded painting, and the page says she was selected for the Gasworks residency in London in 2025. Fátima Rodrigo (Lima, 1987) works with installation, sculpture, textiles, sound and scenography, and the page says her work is in the collection of the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI). The curators describe a shared move from traditional media towards textile, ceramics, video, archive and installation.

How do the awards and museum purchases work?

The fair’s awards page lists several prizes. The RADAR Section Artist Incentive Award, presented by Audi, went to the artists Florencia Levy and Roxana Ramos. The SURA Award for Best Stand in the NEXT Section went to Mahara & Co. The page also says Pinta Lima is one of the fairs where nominations are made for the EFG Latin America Art Award, organised by EFG Bank, ArtNexus and LIAISONS, whose winning work is announced at Pinta Miami.

For collectors watching where young artists end up, the most useful item is the acquisition fund. Pinta’s editorial page explains that the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) was invited by the Pinta Foundation to select works shown at the fair that complement its collection, and that the foundation’s financial contribution is matched by MALI. Works bought this way enter a public collection.

For galleries, applications for 2027 close on 30 November 2026. The application page says the open call is only for contemporary art galleries, that a gallery must propose a selection of artists and a stand concept, and that applications from individual artists are not accepted.

How can a Mexico City collector follow Lima?

You can follow Pinta Lima from Mexico City: the fair publishes its sections, curators, gallery list and an editorial page with news from Lima’s galleries on pinta.art. If your interest is the region as a whole, our overview of Latin American art fairs places Lima beside the other fairs, and our guides to ARTBO in Bogotá, arteba in Buenos Aires and SP-Arte in São Paulo cover the same circuit. Before you buy at any fair, our guide to buying art at an art fair lists the questions to ask.

We are a Mexico City gallery, not an exhibitor at Pinta Lima, and we cannot speak for the fair. One Lima-born painter is on our roster: Laura Cuadros, born in Lima in 1988, whose oil on wood Como si algo quisiera despertar is available today. Our spotlight on Laura Cuadros tells the story of her sky paintings. You can browse every original on our works page. The lowest price on the live catalogue today is MX$ 2,329, shown for a limited-edition print, and prices change, so check each work page.
