Bound sits within Alyssa Tang’s ongoing study of the human figure as material and pressure. A Canadian-Chinese artist, architect, and designer based in Hong Kong, she works skin, muscle, and flesh into states of restraint and closeness — the title carrying both meanings at once, limitation and attachment held in the same frame.
The work is oil and charcoal on canvas. Oil gives it depth and emotional gravity; charcoal adds instinctive line that reads as unresolved, so structure and vulnerability sit side by side. At 72 × 52 cm the scale stays intimate, drawing the viewer close where the negative space and restrained marks do the work.
