About this work

Raúl Cerrillo paints on a raw, large scale, working oil and mixed media across jute, fabric, and wood. His subjects move between the mythic and the speculative, circling time, the post-human, and the heroism of the unseen. Héroes Invisibles (“invisible heroes”) names that last theme directly — a tribute to the figures whose work and sacrifice usually go unnoticed.

Painted in oil on fabric at 180 × 130 cm, the work carries real physical weight, its surface built up with gravity and grit. The large field gives the anonymous their due, holding steady presence for people more often overlooked than seen, and asking the viewer to finally look.
