About this work

Moon River is named for the daydreamy singsong of Holly Golightly, and it sits at the heart of Jade Tantillo's old-Hollywood vocabulary — the same world of cowboys, poppies, and vintage reference she paints throughout her work. Made in 2025, it holds her signature balance: humor against a real lump in the throat, nostalgia mining memory, affection, and emotional inheritance.

Tantillo hand-draws and paints in mixed media on museum-quality canvas, wrapped on a 1.5-inch bordered edge. The vintage surface works as a disguise; the feeling underneath is sincere. At 76.2 × 76.2 cm the square composition gives the reference room to breathe, its worn, hand-worked texture carrying as much of the sentiment as the image.
