About this work

Leather & (East)Wood stages a dialogue between textures and references—softness against structure, organic matter against crafted form. Within Jade Tantillo's practice of memory, affection and old-Hollywood iconography, it works quieter and more material, asking how surfaces carry identity and meaning.

Hand-drawn and painted on paper, the 2025 work pairs drawn precision with painted depth and tonal variation. Rather than resolving into one statement, it invites slow reading, detail and gesture coexisting across the square field. It ships matted and framed in natural oak, a warm complement to the material contrasts at its center.
