In Sync XVIII extends the series in which Karlos Ibarra paints the human figure as a vessel for feeling rather than likeness. The Mexican painter withholds defined features, pressing past resemblance toward emotional truth — desire, vulnerability, the tension that gathers between bodies. The In Sync works circle back, again and again, to balance, intimacy, and the space that separates and joins two people.
The painting is worked in acrylic under a cool, particular light, its thick and deliberate brushwork keeping the figures physically present. Nudity here is a route to feeling rather than eroticism; with faces left open, the reading shifts to stance and nearness. The vertical composition holds the two presences in a measured, deliberate equilibrium.
