About this work

Aurora Kalos paints women at the edge of dream and waking, her portraits moving between the hyperreal and the surreal as spirits and animals surface around figures caught mid-transformation. Pink Demon belongs to that world — a female figure carrying, in the artist's own framing, a little demon within.

Worked in oil on canvas, the painting stays in soft pinks and tender, mystical tones, the "demon" less a monster than a trace of feminine interior life. Kalos keeps the handling light and atmospheric, the square 50-centimeter format concentrating attention on the figure and the quiet strangeness around her.
