About this work

In Aurora Kalos's paintings, women hover between dream and waking, and the interior life becomes the real subject. Twins extends that concern into a study of self-perception — two faces sharing one state, one looking straight ahead, the other observing.

Painted in oil on canvas, the work runs on soft pink and milky tones that give it the feel of water, cloud, or dream. A thin pink line separates the two faces — inner self from outer self — and Kalos lets the gaze linger rather than confront, the taller 70-centimeter format holding both heads in a single quiet field.
