About this work

Piezas de lo que somos II is part of Nuria Oliva's series titled 'pieces of what we are,' where domestic ritual, femininity, and family are drawn together into one layered surface. Oliva paints the textures of memory and home across oil, acrylic, resin, and pastel, treating ordinary life as something worth preserving.

Nearly square, the painting builds its image in fragments over raw gray cotton, the exposed weave grounding the oil that sits on top. Passages assemble and come apart across the canvas — the 'pieces' the title names — held in a muted range that favors touch and texture over spectacle.
