Couchers de Soleil et Cavaliers 3

Couchers de Soleil et Cavaliers 3 continues Pénélope Barbier's Sunsets and Riders series, her exploration of movement, transition, and the tension between landscape and figure. The title evokes passage — riding through space as light falls — and the work stays true to her practice of painting the natural world as a state of feeling. Atmosphere and implied motion carry it, rather than any literal scene.

Oil and natural pigments on canvas give the surface layered, organic tonal variation and a material tie to the passage of time; color and form interact fluidly, keeping the composition open rather than fixed. At 100 by 80 centimeters it works as a clear focal point. This piece is painted on demand — individually executed by the artist after purchase, with an estimated three-to-four-week delivery.
