About this work

Swimmers sits in Tori Pounds’s world of figures held between clarity and abstraction — bodies remembered and invented at once. The UK-based painter is less interested in a specific scene than in a sensation: the feeling of being carried, drifting, momentarily weightless, connection and motion caught in suspension.

The piece is oil and oil stick on canvas. Oil gives depth and softness while the oil stick lays down direct, visible gesture, keeping the artist’s hand on the surface. Together they suggest movement without literal detail, letting atmosphere lead. At 40 × 30 cm the intimate scale pulls the viewer into a quiet, reflective encounter.
