About this work

The Graveyard Book works in Tori Pounds’s characteristic register, where memory and imagination blur and meaning arrives through atmosphere rather than plot. Working from the UK, she treats the surface as an emotional landscape — the title implying chapters and traces, histories that linger and are quietly observed.

It is built in oil, acrylic, and pastels on canvas. Oil adds saturation, acrylic gives structure, and pastel brings soft, visible gesture, the layers accumulating like memory rather than resolving. At 62 × 46.5 cm and framed behind a single glass face, it stays intimate and contained, rewarding the kind of close, sustained looking it’s made for.
