About this work

Memory 8009 continues Chuma Montemayor's Memory series, where images accumulate meaning through repetition and the title reads like a cataloged fragment — one moment among many. As across the series, it works less as a record than a trace, holding erosion and quiet persistence in a single frame.

Printed with inkjet on cotton paper, it uses the paper's soft grain to carry nuanced contrasts and fine gradation, reducing the visual language to essentials. The square 38 × 38 cm format keeps it still and balanced. The work is one of five, marked 2 of 5 with an artist's proof, and is offered unframed.
