About this work

Arturo Lemus Beltrán works where classical technique meets the machine age, staging hyperreal encounters between the human and the digital. Ensayo De Un Panóptico II (“study of a panopticon”) turns that lens toward surveillance and control — the panopticon being the architecture designed so that anyone might be watched at any moment. The result carries the glitch, reflection, and unease that run through his practice.

Painted in oil on canvas, the work holds old-master realism against a distinctly contemporary anxiety, its surface polished and deliberate down to the reflections. As the second in a series, it treats the act of being seen as both its subject and its structure.
