About this work

Unbroken extends Su Lin Casanova's project of painting the inner life as something hard-won. Across her work she names resilience, identity, and transformation directly, and the title states its theme plainly — endurance held intact. These are, as she puts it, paintings that look back, meeting the viewer rather than performing for one.

Worked in oil on a square wooden panel, the format's symmetry lends the image a settled, frontal stability. The panel's grain reads through the paint, and Casanova keeps her handling deliberate, favoring a contained palette. The strength the title claims is carried by the painting's composure, not by any dramatic gesture.
